That cute dick of yours belongs to where it should be!

Yesterday, the first online news that greeted me on Yahoo! News was about the public screening of Raja Azmi's controversial and long awaited film ".... Dalam Botol", or "...In A Bottle".

Malaysia gay-themed film gets applause at 1st show

No, the movie has nothing to do with Christina Aguilera's song Genie in a bottle...!

It's a Malay-language gay themed film about a man who gets a sex change operation because he thought it would satisfy his male lover, but ends up regretting it. The film earned applause from movie bloggers invited to its first public screening on Wednesday, 10 November 2010, three months before its scheduled nationwide release.

Yes, it is due to the fact that some movie bloggers got invited to the screening which got me excited to write something about it. But I was too busy with other matters, I had to put this entry on hold till today.

However I did a simple search on whether there are any write-ups by those bloggers who attended, and I only found one by The Cosmic Abyss:

the message is not in the bottle

So, what happened to the rest who got invited? Still having writers block! Actually the invitation was made open to all bloggers here:

Tayangan Khas : ... Dalam Botol Secara Ekslusif!!!

and also here: Tayangan Eksklusif ... Dalam Botol!!! Panggilan Akhir!!!

But the invitation was open only to 20 blogger friends of Amy Ikram: amy ikram diary as mentioned in the entry: p/s: Raja Azmi bersama Amy Ikram mencari hanya 20 rakan blogger yang berminat untuk menyaksikan tayangan. The invitation was considered exclusive, and as I am not an exclusive blogger, I did not make any effort to write to Amy Ikram to be invited, and even if I did, Amy would have rejected my request. But the main reason is I was not interested.

But I am interested on what is going on with the Malay movie industry and it's progress, which prompted me to write this entry. So today I made another search to find out more about the movie.

What's so special about it? and I found it here:

Malaysia's first gay movie to test public acceptance

Hmm!... so now I know why Raja Azmi's latest movie flick was initially called "Anu Dalam Botol" or aptly translated -- penis in a bottle. It's about how the protagonist kept the remains of his penis in a bottle for whatever reason only he knows well.

Producer Raja Azmi Raja Sulaiman said the movie was based on the life of a friend and that her intention was to offer a glimpse into the life of a transsexual.

She submitted her script not only to the country's national Censorship Board for approval, but also to Malaysia's official Islamic authority for advice.

"I told them the title of the film was 'Penis in A Bottle' and that it was a gay movie about a transsexual, and they said why are you doing this?" said Raja Azmi.

The Islamic authority ultimately approved the script as it included Ruby's eventual regret over her sex-change operation. But the original title, which refers to how Ruby keeps her removed male genitalia in a bottle, was rejected.

So I think Raja Azmi was passionate about making this movie because she was fascinated about the story of a transsexual friend who had his dong cut-off and later regrets about it.

So she wants to tell people, "hey...if you are a transsexual, don't simply go and get a surgery to remove your dick and then regret it. That cute dick of yours belongs to where it should be even if you don't like it. It does not deserve to be preserved in a bottle.

Cute.
